Get in TouchContinuous Vertical Chain Conveyor | Vertical Material Handling Conveyor
HYWAY Continuous Vertical Chain Conveyor is an industrial vertical material handling system designed to continuously transport cartons, crates, boxes, bags, trays and other unit loads between different floor levels. Its compact vertical design helps utilize available building height while reducing the floor space required for product transfer.
The conveyor uses a heavy-duty chain-driven lifting mechanism with individual product-carrying beds, providing controlled and stable vertical movement for applications requiring frequent transfer between multiple levels.
HYWAY Continuous Vertical Chain Conveyors can be configured with different infeed and discharge arrangements, including C-Type, L-Type and Z-Type configurations, according to the building layout and material flow requirements.
The system is suitable for warehouses, manufacturing plants, packaging lines, food and beverage facilities, distribution centers and other industrial material handling applications.
What is a Continuous Vertical Chain Conveyor?
A Continuous Vertical Chain Conveyor is a vertical conveying system used to move unit loads continuously between different elevations.
Unlike a conventional horizontal conveyor, which moves products along a floor-level path, a vertical chain conveyor transports products through a vertical path while maintaining controlled product positioning.
The system consists of a vertical frame, chain-driven lifting arrangement, product-carrying beds, guides and safety guarding. Products are loaded onto the conveyor at the designated infeed level and transferred vertically to the required discharge level.
Depending on the application, the conveyor can be integrated with belt conveyors, roller conveyors, packaging machines, palletizing systems, sorting systems and other automated material handling equipment.
HYWAY Continuous Vertical Chain Conveyor
HYWAY's CVC is designed for applications where products need to be transferred vertically without occupying the large floor area required by conventional ramps or multiple conveyor levels.
The system is engineered around a chain-driven bed arrangement, allowing individual loads to be supported and transported through the vertical path.
The carrying beds can be configured according to the product dimensions, weight and required throughput.

How Does a Vertical Pallet Lifter Work?
Products are transferred from an upstream conveyor onto a carrying bed of the vertical conveyor.
The chain-driven mechanism moves the carrying beds through the vertical path. As the bed reaches the designated discharge level, the product is transferred onto the downstream conveyor.
The conveyor can be synchronized with the upstream and downstream equipment to maintain a controlled flow of products.
A typical operating sequence is:
Infeed Conveyor
Product enters the system smoothly through the infeed conveyor.
Product Positioning
Product is accurately positioned for safe and efficient transfer.
Bed Engagement
The product securely engages with the lifting bed before transfer.
Vertical Transfer
The product is smoothly transferred vertically to the required level.
Discharge Level
The lifting bed aligns precisely with the designated discharge level.
Product Transfer
Product transfers smoothly from the lifting bed to the receiving conveyor.
C-Type, L-Type and Z-Type Vertical Chain Conveyors
The configuration of a continuous vertical conveyor depends primarily on the relative position of the infeed and discharge conveyors.
C-Type Vertical Chain Conveyor
A C-Type Vertical Conveyor is suitable when the product enters and exits on the same side of the vertical conveyor.
The C-shaped material flow is useful where the infeed and discharge conveyors need to be positioned on the same side.
L-Type Vertical Chain Conveyor
An L-Type Vertical Conveyor is suitable when the infeed and discharge conveyors are positioned approximately 90° to each other.
This configuration helps connect conveyors located on adjacent sides or different orientations within a production or warehouse layout.
Z-Type Vertical Chain Conveyor
A Z-Type Vertical Conveyor is suitable when the infeed and discharge conveyors are positioned on opposite or offset sides.
The Z-shaped product flow connects different levels while maintaining a suitable horizontal-to-vertical-to-horizontal material flow.
Configuration Selection
The final configuration is selected according to floor layout, conveyor direction, product dimensions, lifting height and material flow requirements.
Applications of Continuous Vertical Chain Conveyors
HYWAY CVC systems can be used wherever unit loads need to be transported vertically between different levels.
Warehouses & Distribution Centers
For transferring cartons, boxes and crates between storage, picking, packing and dispatch levels.
Manufacturing Plants
For connecting production lines located at different elevations and transferring work-in-progress or finished products.
Packaging Lines
For moving packed cartons, cases, trays and other packaged products between packaging and downstream operations.
Food & Beverage Industry
For vertical movement of crates, cartons, trays and packaged products between processing, packaging and storage areas.
FMCG & Consumer Goods
For transferring packaged products between multiple floors or production and warehouse levels.
E-Commerce & Logistics
For connecting multi-level sorting, packing, storage and dispatch operations.
Products That Can Be Handled
The carrying bed and conveyor configuration can be designed according to the product being transported.
Typical applications include:
- Cartons
- Corrugated boxes
- Plastic crates
- Bags
- Trays
- Totes
- Containers
- Packaged food products
- FMCG cases
- Other suitable unit loads
Safety Features
Safety is a critical consideration in vertical pallet lifting applications.
HYWAY VPL can incorporate multiple safety systems designed to control access to the lifting area and monitor machine operation.
Typical safety provisions include:
- Cartons
- Corrugated boxes
- Plastic crates
- Bags
- Trays
- Totes
- Containers
- Packaged food products
- FMCG cases
- Other suitable unit loads
Product dimensions, weight, center of gravity, surface condition and required throughput should be considered while designing the conveyor.
Why Use a Continuous Vertical Conveyor?
Save Floor Space
A vertical conveyor utilizes building height and can reduce the horizontal floor area required for transferring products between levels.
Connect Multiple Levels
The system can connect production, packaging, storage and dispatch areas located at different elevations.
Reduce Manual Handling
Automated vertical transfer reduces the need for manual lifting and carrying of products between floors.
Improve Material Flow
The conveyor can be integrated with upstream and downstream equipment to create a continuous material handling process.
Support Automation
PLC-based control and sensor integration allow the conveyor to operate as part of a larger automated material handling system.
Safety Features
Vertical conveying equipment requires appropriate guarding and safety systems because the carrying beds and chain mechanism operate through a vertical travel path.
Depending on the machine configuration, HYWAY CVC can incorporate:
- 360° safety guarding
- Interlocked access doors
- Emergency stop systems
- Upper and lower travel limits
- Proximity and position sensors
- Bed position monitoring
- Load verification
- Safety interlocks
- Controlled stopping and braking
- Speed monitoring/governor arrangements where required
- Proper electrical earthing
- Safety monitoring integrated into the control system
Safety features are selected according to the machine configuration, application, site requirements and applicable safety standards.
